Katja Ting – Principal

Founder and Principal of Hua Hsia Chinese School. Qualified teacher of Teaching Chinese as a second language from Taipei Language Institute in 1978. Taught within the Institute for 7 years, focusing on the Bible, preaching and public speaking. Started teaching adult classes in The Institute of Hampstead Garden Suburb in 2006.

Teaching in Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls from 2009 till present. Has taught in St. Michael Grammar School in North Finchley, Copthall School, and Hendon School.Started teaching in Hua Hsia from 2007 till present, specialising in the Cambridge Pre-U qualification and Edexcel A level courses. Working in Hendon School as a teacher examiner for the Chinese GCSE exam under both the AQA and Edexcel board.Working for CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) from 2013 till present, as an IGCSE external Moderator for both speaking and writing.




Rina Quah – Finance Officer

My name is Rina Quah and I am the Finance Officer of Hua Hsia Chinese School.  I am a Chartered Certified Accountant and have been working with Hua Hsia since Aug 2009. 


Roland Morgulis – Staff

Hi, I am Roland, I work on the reception at Hua Hsia's Hampstead branch. I
am a qualified fire warden and the first point of contact for all parents
and students. I can speak French and English, and I can understand Spanish,
Italian, and Chinese. 



Jenny Sing: Nursery

I have been teaching Chinese in England for 32 years. I have been part of Hua Hsia since its launch in 2001. 



Tangwei Mi: Abacus

I am a not only a professional Abacus Teacher but also an enthusiastic Mandarin Teacher. I have learnt abacus for 7 years when I was a child, and achieved official qualifications in China. Even though it has been ten years, I can still remember every skill of abacus. To be honest, abacus benefits my whole life. I am also really interested in teaching Mandarin and have enough patience to correct every pronunciation of my students.

HaiYan / 张海燕: SUKA 3, GCSE 2, GCSE Final & Advance Chinese

I am Haiyan Zhang, a friendly, supportive person, with an organised approach and patient attitude. I have over twenty year experiences of teaching Chinese since obtaining the bachelor degree of Modern Chinese Language and Literacy. I have worked with a wide age range of students in China and the UK.


Shuting: Year 1, Year 5 & Year 7

Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University where I obtained a qualification for Teaching in Taiwan as well as a Fine Arts Degree. University of Leicester Art museum and gallery studies with education module. I joined Hua Hsia Chinese School in November 2015. For young kids I believe happiness is the best media to introduce them into what they are going to learn. For Chinese language learning, I prefer my students to understand the language rather than just to remember it.


Hui Hui : Foundation 1 Foundation 2 

Hello, I am Hui Hui. I joined Hua Hsia 4 years ago, first as a parent with two young kids then as a teacher. I specialized in Chinese language and have taught young children, before becoming an architect. I like using images, sounds and actions to make the lessons more interesting. As a parent, I strongly believe in involving parents with the children’s learning journey, you can always learn with and learn from them!


Lin Pang Yin – Foundation 1, Foundation 2, Year 2, Year 4 & SUKA 2

I graduated from National Kaohsiung Normal University and I have just started my seventh year of teaching. In my opinion, the most important thing for learning is that students have to love the things that they learn, so during my teaching years, I try my best to make my lessons as interesting as possible. I always try to focus on helping children to achieve learning goals by communicating with each individual student as much as possible. I joined Hua Hsia Chinese School last year and so far it has been a great experience getting to know my students and other teachers. I look forward to another year of teaching at Hua Hsia Chinese School!


Lina / 李娜 – Foundation 1, Foundation 2, Year 1, Year 2 & Abacus

As a registered international Mandarin teacher, I have a passion to pass on my knowledge to children, your little treasures, our future. Sharing knowledge, discovering new ways of doing things, using games, cards and other aids, I enthuse the children to discover and learn. I encourage teamwork, aiming for the best, and getting them to see that wanting is having. Personally, I love life and my family. I also like cooking, travelling and seeing new places. Please be assured that your children are safe in my class and that I will do my best efforts to teach them the joy of learning.


San Mei – Foundation 1 & Foundation 2

Hi, I am San Mei a friendly, optimistic, hardworking teacher with excellent communication, organisational and administrate skills. I enjoy delivering teaching and learning that is exciting, vibrant and rewarding for all involved. I have worked with children of all ages and ability and believe fun and trust are essential ingredients to educational language development in the classroom.  


Xiao Yue Chen – Adult Beginners & Adult Intermediates

I am Chen Xiaoyue, originally from Guangdong China. I graduated ftom Shenzhen University in China, majoring in English Teaching. I came to the UK in 2003 and graduated from the University of Hull, with an MA in Education. I am an interpreter, translator and a private Chinese teacher for Adults at the moment. I began working for HuaHsia this year. I am a mother of 2 kids who have been studying Chinese in HuaHsia for the past few years. We are all enjoy our time in HuaHsia.


Xian Ping – Year 2 & Year 4    

I just graduated as a Master student in International Journalism from University of Leeds. I have abundant teaching experiences on a one-on-one basis. Currently I am a journalist working in a TV company based in London. I am a native Chinese speaker and also an excellent user of English. Being flexible-minded and responsible for my job helped me become a good teacher and problem-solver.


Ching Hui Wilkinson – Abacus

I hold a Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from the National Taiwan Normal University as well as a Msc in Finance from University of London. I am also a qualified abacus teacher and examiner from the Taiwanese abacus examination board. I teach Mandarin and Abacus at all levels to both children and adults.



Xia Jing – Adults Advance

Hello, my name is Jing. I was born and grew up in Beijing, China. I hold a bachelor degree of art in Foreign Public Relations. I also studied at University of Westminster and got a postgraduate diploma in Accounting & Finance. I joined Hua Hsia 10 years ago. Now I’m the teacher in Adult Intermediate & Adult Advance classes. I am an encouraging and helpful person.


Ching Ku – Year 2

From 2005 to 2012 I have been working as a postdoctoral research associate at Imperial College London and King’s College London in the field of cardiovascular health and progress of heart diseases in youths and adults. Besides my professional background, I have volunteered with children's charity work in UK and summer youth camp in Poland since year 1997. Last year I joined Hua Hsia Chinese School as a part-time Mandarin teacher and participate in teacher training seminars and workshops at the IOE, University of London and independent schools.



Hi, I am Pingping. I love teaching, and I strive to make each of my lessons fun, relaxing and productive. I have 5 years teaching experience across a range of different ages.



Yiyu Wang - Foundation 1, Foundation 2 & Abacus

Graduated from the University of Southampton and now enrolled in a Postgraduate Program, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, at the SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London. Has taught both Mathematic Abacus and Chinese at Hua Hsia Chinese School and at their School Clubs for independent, mainstream primary and secondary schools. Experienced with children aged from 12 months to 14 years old. 


Chan Xin Sian - Foundation 1

I am Chan Xin Sian, and I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree at Imperial College of London. I teach Chinese and I'm also qualified to be an Abacus teacher. I love teaching and always engage with the students, the parents, and the Hua Hsia teaching teams, to create a collaborative learning environment. I joined Hua Hsia recently and enjoy being in this friendly and supportive teaching environment! 


Mengyin Lin - Year 3

Ni hao! I am Meng. I am a professional Mandarin teacher with a background in psychology. With my 4 years of experience in Mandarin teaching, I have accumulated practical classroom experience by working with young learners and adults. I support students with flexible activities and structural materials.
