Hua Hsia Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition

Students could gain great experience and improve their Mandarin from the Hua Hsia Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition!

The Finals of the Hua Hsia Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition 2013 was held successfully on Saturday, 2 November. There was a large number of entries received and 20 students were selected for the Final Competition. Around 80 students, parents and guests attended the event in Mill Hill, London on Saturday.

The Hua Hsia Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition is for students from 6 to 18 years old and non-native speakers of Chinese. It is a free event and we would like to provide a platform for the students who would like to gain confidence presenting their own voice in public using their language skills!

We are making it fun for the children and encourage them with medals, trophies and gift bags. The theme of decoration in the hall was Halloween and we learn from one of the most popular TV programme – The VOICE. The judges faced the audience and marked on accuracy, pronunciation and fluency based on what they hear from the candidates. Audience members marked on presentation.

The benefits of taking part
Students in the competition increase their motivation for learning, develop vocabulary and improve pronunciation. Most importantly, students gain confidence presenting their own voice in public using their language skills!
It only takes 5 minutes for students to prepare for the Preliminary Competition and there will be surprises and awards for their courage at the end of the competition. There are only benefits when seizing opportunities in life and the best way is to act now!
